Symptoms
Watering Eyes
Eyes that stream are more often too dry than too wet: the surface is irritated, so it over-produces tears. The other common cause is a blocked drainage duct. Both are treatable once distinguished.

Understanding watering eyes
Watering eyes (epiphora) occur when the eyes produce too many tears, or tears cannot drain away properly. It can be a minor nuisance or a persistent problem that blurs vision and irritates the skin around the eyes.
Interestingly, watery eyes are often caused by dryness – the eye over-produces tears in response. A specialist assessment identifies the true cause and the right solution.

What causes watering eyes?
Common causes include dry eye, blocked or narrowed tear ducts, eyelid problems, allergies and irritation. In many cases treating an underlying dry eye resolves the watering.
We assess the tear film and drainage to pinpoint the cause and recommend the most effective treatment.
