Treatments
Laser treatment reshapes the cornea, while lens treatment replaces or supplements the eye's natural lens. At the assessment, we establish which treatment may be relevant for you, based on factors including your age, your prescription and the condition of your natural lens.

Two routes to clearer vision
Vision correction falls into two broad groups. Laser treatments reshape the cornea at the front of the eye. Lens treatments work inside the eye, either adding a lens or replacing the natural one.
Which treatment group may be relevant for you is assessed principally on the basis of your age, your prescription and the condition of your cornea. Before the age of 45, laser is often the starting point. From around the age of 45, when the natural lens begins to stiffen, lens-based treatments are often more relevant.
The right treatment is individual. A thorough diagnostic examination establishes which options may be relevant for you.

Which treatment is best for me?
The choice of the right eye treatment depends on several factors, including your age, the condition of your eye's lens, the thickness of the cornea and your lifestyle. At EuroEyes, we help you find the solution that best suits your needs.
The choice between laser eye treatment and trifocal lenses is made on the basis of a thorough, professional assessment. During a comprehensive eye examination, our specially trained opticians take the measurements needed as the basis for the recommendation.
At EuroEyes, we offer advanced treatments such as LASIK, SMILE and lens exchange with trifocal lenses. We have extensive experience in vision-correcting treatments, including the treatment of presbyopia.
For short-sightedness and astigmatism, laser eye treatment or ICL may be relevant. In an ICL treatment, an artificial lens is placed in front of the eye's natural lens. Depending on your refractive error and the professional assessment, the options may include ReLEx SMILE Pro, FS-LASIK, PRK, LASEK or ICL (implantable lenses). For long-sightedness, FS-LASIK or ICL may be relevant in some cases.
Lens treatment may be relevant for presbyopia, cataract and astigmatism. Trifocal lenses replace the eye's natural lens and provide focus at near, intermediate and long range. Monofocal lenses have a single focal point and are used, among other things, in the treatment of cataract. At the assessment, we assess which type of lens may be relevant for you.
We have clinics in Copenhagen, Aarhus and Aalborg, where our specialists are ready to advise you on your options, the benefits and any risks. The goal is to give you a life less dependent on glasses or contact lenses – and a higher quality of everyday life.
Laser treatments
Laser methods reshape the cornea to change how light is focused. They are generally considered from 18, once your prescription has been stable for at least 12 months.
ReLEx SMILE Pro
Flapless laser correction through a 2–4 mm opening, performed with the Carl Zeiss VISUMAX 800. No corneal flap is created.
Typically considered for: Myopia with or without astigmatism.
LASIK
A thin corneal flap is lifted and the tissue beneath reshaped. One of the most extensively documented refractive procedures.
Typically considered for: Myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.
PRK / LASEK
A surface treatment without a flap. Recovery takes longer, but it remains applicable where corneas are thinner.
Typically considered for: Thinner corneas.
Laser eye surgery
An overview of how laser correction works, what the methods have in common and how they differ.
Typically considered for: Understanding your options.
Lens treatments
Lens methods work inside the eye. They cover a wider range of prescriptions than laser and are the usual route once presbyopia or a cataract is involved.
Trifocal lenses
A replacement lens with three focal points, giving vision at near, intermediate and far distances.
Typically considered for: Presbyopia, correction at all distances.
EDOF lenses
Extended depth of focus lenses give a continuous range of vision rather than distinct focal points.
Typically considered for: Patients who drive at night.
ICL lenses
A soft lens placed in front of the natural lens, leaving the cornea untouched. Removable if circumstances change.
Typically considered for: Higher prescriptions, thin corneas.
Clear Lens Exchange
The natural lens is replaced before a cataract has formed. A cataract cannot then develop in that lens.
Typically considered for: Presbyopia with a strong prescription.
Other procedures
Not every eye operation is about focus. We also correct the alignment of the eyes.
Squint surgery
A squint (strabismus) is a misalignment of the eyes. The muscles that control eye movement are adjusted to bring the eyes back into alignment, improving comfort and appearance.
Typically considered for: Misaligned eyes in adults and children.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know which treatment I need?
Your free assessment includes a thorough diagnostic examination. Our specialised team goes through which treatments may be relevant for you, what they involve and the risks associated with them. If treatment is not recommended, you will of course be told that too.
Is treatment painful?
Treatments are performed under anaesthetic drops and most patients feel little or no discomfort. Mild grittiness or watering for a few hours afterwards is common.
How long does it take?
Most procedures take around 15 minutes per eye and you go home the same day. Recovery varies by method – from a couple of days for SMILE Pro or LASIK to about a week for PRK/LASEK.
What does it cost?
The price depends on the treatment method and your individual needs. You will receive the total price in writing in connection with your free assessment. See our pricing page for guide prices.
