Insurance and subsidy
Sygeforsikring “danmark”, private health insurance and interest-free financing
What help is available
Vision correction is elective surgery, so it is not covered by the Danish public health service. Many patients do, however, receive a subsidy through Sygeforsikring “danmark” or a private health insurance policy, and treatment can be paid in instalments.
What follows is orientation rather than a quote. What you can actually claim depends on your own membership group and policy terms, and those change from time to time.
The two routes to a subsidy
Membership
Sygeforsikring “danmark”
“danmark” provides a subsidy towards vision correction for its members. The amount depends on which membership group you belong to and how long you have been a member.
We can help you check your entitlement before you commit, and we provide the documentation you need. The claim itself is made by you, directly to “danmark”.
Policy
Private health insurance
Some private policies – including those arranged through an employer – contribute towards laser or lens treatment. Others exclude elective vision correction altogether.
Ask your insurer three things: whether refractive surgery is covered, whether pre-approval is required, and which documents they need from us.
Interest-free financing
Interest-free financing is available on both laser and lens treatments, so the cost can be spread over instalments rather than paid in one sum.
At your assessment you receive the full terms in writing: the credit provider, the annual percentage rate (ÅOP), the number of instalments and the total amount repayable. Financing is subject to a credit assessment by the provider, not by EuroEyes.

Checking your cover
Step 1
Book your free assessment
There is no cost and no obligation. You find out whether treatment is suitable for your eyes before any money is discussed.
Step 2
Get the plan in writing
You leave with the recommended method and the price in writing – which is exactly what insurers and “danmark” ask to see.
Step 3
Ask your provider
Contact “danmark” or your insurer to confirm what they will contribute and whether they need to approve the treatment first.
Step 4
Decide
With the treatment price, any subsidy and the financing terms all in front of you, you can make the decision on real numbers.
What we can and cannot do
We can tell you what your treatment costs and put it in writing, explain what patients in a similar position are typically able to claim, and supply the paperwork your provider asks for.
We cannot confirm what your insurer or “danmark” will actually pay – only they can do that. We are not an insurance adviser and we receive no commission from insurers.
Danish subsidy schemes such as Sygeforsikring “danmark” generally apply to treatment carried out in Denmark. If you are considering treatment at another EuroEyes clinic abroad, check the position with your provider first.
